Wage Garnishments
Wage Garnishments
Wage Garnishments are financially crippling to the taxpayer. Once received by the employer, they are legally bound to collect a large percentage (usually 30-75% or more) of the taxpayer’s NET paycheck and send it to the IRS. Wage levies, referred to as continous levies, remain in effect until the IRS or State notifies the employer that the wage levy has been released.
Most wage levies take so much money from the taxpayer’s paycheck that the taxpayer doesn’t have enough money to live on. If you are single the IRS can take all but $265.38 of your biweekly paycheck. If you are married and filing joint with three exemptions, the IRS can take anything over 873.08, on a biweekly paycheck.
NOTE: We have the opportunity to explain why this levy would be an economic hardship on you the taxpayer. As you might imagine, this is no easy task. Our Certified Tax Resolution Specialist would quickly gather the necessary info to determine the level of hardship and eliminate or limit the wage garnishment.
